Constitutes a CBR Programme?
CBR Team's programme basically include:
Training
in daily living skills such as dressing, bathing and eating.
Advice about
home modifications and making or acquiring aids, appliances and equipment.
Mobility
training and provision of necessary aids and equipment - using waling
aids or a wheelchair.
Recreation
like swimming, picnics or visits to supermarts and shopping complexes.
Advice on
hygiene: care of skin, bladder, bowel and bedsores.
Discussions
regarding psychological problems relating to the disability.
Education
and guidance on rehabilitation programmes and possible future lifestyle
with a disability.
Liasion with
schools, employers etc to enable the person with disability to commence
schooling or employment.
Assisting
the training for a trade or specific job.
Arranging
and if appropriate paying for surgical treatment.
Recommendations
and possibly financial assistance for transport, like a modified motorvehicle.
Assisting
referrals to organizations and authorities such as EPF, Socso, Social
Welfare Department and special schools.
Referrals
to Day Care Centres to resume on going treatment and education.
Regular assessment
and review of the rehab programme by CBR Team.
